The main purpose of a logbook is to provide a navigation note book and record for any yacht, whether power or sail. Primarily the information it contains should enable you to navigate safely to your desired destination in the event of a total failure of all navigation equipment, by reference to the previous entries. It also provides a convenient place to put all the specific notes that need constant referral during a voyage: tides, compass errors, the movement of the barometer, weather and visibility.
